July 2023 Island Trip – Day 1

My DH helped me load his car with my band and Island gear this morning. I can’t pick up the two big powered speakers… In addition to band gear and the usual stuff, I tucked in additional items for the estate sale next month. This may be the fullest his car has ever been!

I paused to top off the gas tank at the reservation. Gas prices are far more attractive on the reservation than on the Island. The ferry was running 30-minutes late, and I arrived at the property around 2:00. By 3:15 I was mowing and got a lot a acreage per gallon, given being able to keep up on grass slaying so far this year. This trip will be the last time I have to mow until mid-fall.

After climbing off the mower I visited with my tenants, who are valiantly trying to slay the weeds in my mom’s perennial garden. I’m going to give at least an hour a day to this effort while I’m here. I was able to identify new volunteer perennials (likely conjured up via tilling), and consult on indefatigable weeds. We had a nice visit, and planned for a Thursday evening gathering.
