July 2023 Island Trip – Day 2
Today saw:
- The stoves in each barn were made operational. The crew was swift, and an almost unheard of thing happened… The actual cost was about 45% less than the estimate!
- I moved all the lumber from one side of the upper barn, where it was leaning against the wall, to the other side, where it’s now stacked on the floor. The pile looks much smaller in its more compact state. This was not for entertainment, but to consolidate items not for sale to one side of the building. This is also the reason I will get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight. That and walking endlessly back and forth on the concrete slab, even in good shoes, wore me out.
- I got a lot more pricing done, and found more things behind where the lumber was. Some things were added to the sale, some tossed, and some (spiders, big spiders) evicted.
- The water heater whisperers came today. It seems we have the perfect storm of sediment and lower than ideal water pressure causing its bad behavior. It is very interesting to me that the folks who installed it never asked me about our water pressure here… I have follow up homework to do: Ask my AN if its possible to increase the pressure of the system, and if we can place an external filter in the water system at the house.
- We, tenants and I, had a burger on the deck for dinner. I was back to Stella before 7:45. It’s just after 9 and I’m headed to bed.
