July 2023 Island Trip – Day 6

Going under the house this morning wasn’t my favorite thing to do, but I was able to locate where the waterline exits through the foundation and then likely heads to the lower barn. Next is to draw a sketch for my AN and send him my findings, complete with some sketchy photos taken in the dark 😂. I think we’ll know where to start digging for pipe on the exterior of the house. Then, we blow out that pipe (with water) to try and clear it of sediment, and install a filter and clean-out at the house. With any luck, this will improve pressure issues, sediment getting into the faucets, shower head, and the water heater. Have I mentioned how much I appreciate my tenants’ patience??

After washing the insulation out of my hair, I headed back to Rusty’s. We played twice for two different sets of visitors. Our late friend’s son and daughter in law joined us for the day. Oh wow, is the son as talented as his dad! He plays keys, drums, guitar, and sings just like his dad. He and his wife did a couple of songs for us. At the end I went into the house for the tissue. Everyone was very moved. They are a lovely couple and sound stunning together.

I confess, again, to feeling a certain amount of impatience re planning. We were suppose to gather at 11AM. I got there around 12:30 (house spelunking takes time), and we didn’t start playing until after 3. Certainly, it was nice to visit and have some lunch (being peopled out aside), and there are thing here that will remain undone until next month because we collectively don’t understand each other’s expectations. It’s OK! Now I know what to expect. Next time I’ll ask, “When will we start playing?” Should time be crunchy.

It really was good to spend additional time with some of the folks today who came out yesterday. They are lovely, warm humans with generous hearts.
