August II 2023 Island Trip – Day 1

During the ferry ride to the Island I created a Facebook event for the estate sale on my own page, and then on an Island page. From there I shared the ‘event’ out to three additional Island centric pages. This is the ‘new advertising,’ particularly in a teeny community. There’ve been a number of replies regarding pictures of prices of art I posted. Tomorrow I’ll place the actual physical sale signs.

The truck was carefully full this trip (art). It took thoughtful unloading, tho it didn’t take too long. And we bought a larger fridge for the lower barn. 7.4 cubic feet. The wee bar fridge will be added to the estate sale. This is a pure security move on my part. Stella has a perfectly working, 24-year old, evaporative fridge that works on propane and electricity. It takes forever to cool down, hours. There have been times I worried if Stella’s fridge was actually working. Hello Anxiety!! It’s never failed, and yet having a new, energy efficient unit, that is always cold, I can unload the coolers into is the definition of self care.

I took a quick swipe at Stella’s pad with the push mower before deploying StarLink., whose cord runs across said pad. I also trimmed up around the barn entrances edges, and the boat. If there’s time, a line trimmer will be briefly deployed.

My tenants took me out to Karaoke tonight. They don’t partake, and are very kind in telling me they come out to hear me sing 💕. I was not in my best voice tonight, but was the best voice there… Karaoke is about supporting people singing. Particularly those who are giving it everything they have, even when they miss crucial notes and cadence. There was lots of support for everyone who picked up the mic.

My DH arrives tomorrow mid-afternoon. I am so thankful that he can be here this weekend… And Monday is our anniversary! We’re going to dinner with friends. It’ll be a nice treat after the estate sale.
