August II 2023 Island Trip – Day 6 & # 24

No alarms were set this morning after three days of hard work. Somewhere around 9:30 we opened our eyes and decided to address the day, slowly. As forecast, the temperature was delightfully cooler, but still warm in the sun. I chose a sassy t-shirt of my fathers to wear with a pair of jeans whose knee had given it up.

After a celebratory breakfast for our 24th anniversary, we resumed with furniture moving. The pump room is almost elegantly packed, and the upper barn hasn’t been this empty since shortly after it was built… A fellow with a cool lifted VW Jetta came by and picked up the two 8’ horizontal shelves late afternoon. Our AN came down and adopted lots metal from the stack my dad had been curating for decades, that’s otherwise bound for recycle. I was delighted he could use so much of the metal collection. We kept every piano hinge.

Around 2:30 this afternoon a multiple-cell thunder storm settled in for 3 hours. The temperature plummeted. We fetched our sweatshirts. It brought much needed heavy tropical style rain, and building shaking thunder. It was kinda wonderful!

We took Tim, our neighbor to the east and our tenants out to dinner to help us celebrate our anniversary this evening. It was a lovely occasion. We had a 50-year age spread at the table. Conversation was fluid, interesting, and important. I feel blessed.
