August II 2023 Island Trip – Day 7
The thunder storm(s) kept going until late this afternoon. More than 24-hours 😳. This is almost unheard of in our area of the country. Looking at weather radar maps, not only were these cells over the Island, they were planted over our side of the Island! It’s oddly reassuring to have your sense of, “The storm is (pointing to the west of Stella) RIGHT THERE!” Be confirmed by satellites. Currently, the rain has ceased, as has the noise and flashes of light. As much as I adore a good electrical storm, 24-hours is enough for the moment ⚡️⛈️.
My DH got our trail cam working again this morning. We’re looking forward to more wildlife shots. He also confirmed that a key that reluctantly fits into Stella’s hitch lock, isn’t the right key for the lock… We then moved a Very Heavy butcher block table from the upper to lower barn using a mechanic’s creeper and an appliance dolly. Next was to rejoined the large work table frame to its top without damaging either of us, also now in the lower barn. Then load the truck with all the metal scrap that would fit. I have a request into our AN to further load the truck with bigger pieces of metal from the scrap heap, if he has time.

After dropping my DH at the ferry, I took a fast turn through one of the markets, where I learned the main market had flooded 😳 due to the deluge. I returned to the property, took pictures of pipe that’s too long to put in the truck, entered Stella, and haven’t left her.
I spent the afternoon playing with some collage, posted the pipe on Facebook (and it’s been adopted by someone I know!), busted out the little heater, and created a fruit fly trap with the apple cider vinegar I picked up at the market. I made incredible street tacos that included leftover kale sautéed in onion. Dishes next, and then it’s oddly time to deploy the dehumidifier, in August!
