Sept/Oct 2023 Island Trip – Day 9
I attended a Zoom meeting for my next quilt class this morning. The class goes from now through May! There are teams of six and we are accountable to each other. I like this… It’ll make me back off my to-do lists and steep in creativity! One of my teammates not only is in my state, but is a brief ferry ride away!
During the meeting my tenants texted to let me know a tree was down over the upper drive. It was not an insignificant piece of tree, but fortunately being an antique alder, partially shattering on its way down. I was able clear the drive, piece by piece. We need a chain sew here that I can wield. The one here has something like a 24” bar. I need a 14” bar. I don’t want to ‘log,’ just keep things clear.
With the elders heading to town today, my next task was to GI Stella. She is glowing! Well, glowing as much as a trailer can that has lower walls made of ‘mouse fur’ 😂. All of her wood was loved on with a wood cleaner, and her ‘photo finish’ wood surfaces where cleaned too. Glass, and countertops taken care of… It’ not like we don’t clean, but to do it all at once, even in a small space, is a lot. Then a vacuum and a hand and knees wipe of the small wood floor in the galley. I’ve added to my list of wishes to find out how to safely remove the wall paper from the otherwise finished oak walls…
A lot of quilt blocks got done today, and a nice walk that included catching up with a neighbor. I’m eyeing sheetrock corners in the lower barn tomorrow. It’s supposed to be 65º. A good temp for such a project.
