November 2023 Island Trip – Days 4 & 5
Day 4:
The locksmith came up with a clever solution. There will be one master key to the property. And the keys that the tenants have will allow access only to the pump room and house. How this is accomplished is a mystery that I do not need to know. I will only have to buy one lock, and pay for the magical rekeying of the five locks to make this happen. I am a fan.
The tile guy is too busy to retile, but will deep-clean, and repair the fragile grout. It will get us down the road. He will also be able to refinish the exterior of the entry door.
I spread almost half of the mulch pile. Just like the weed pile, all the grass under the mulch has died, leaving a huge scar. The grass will reassert itself. I am left more than annoyed with the fact that the tenant asked me to bring mulch he never intended to use…
My DH and then our friend arrived in the afternoon/evening. We enjoyed many appetizers at dinner, and then indeed did stay up too late catching up.
Day 5:
After a farmer’s breakfast we showed our friend around the property and then walked up the road, including a side road we’d never been up. It was steep, and rugged.
We felt very adult (cause we’re kids at heart) by spending the rest of the day visiting the book store, having a late lunch out, going to the Island museum, pausing at the winery just down the road from us to enjoy a tasting, and then headed back for a pot roast that had been doing its thing in the crock pot all day. We didn’t stay us as late, but enjoyed the company just as much.
