November 2023 Island Trip – Day 8
After discovering the condition of the house, and the tenants subsequent absence, I needed to leave the property for a while. I made a bunch of stops, mostly on foot:
- I returned funky tomatoes to the market,
- Stopped at the hardware store,
- The bank,
- A few shops, one of which had a replacement wallet for me (!),
- And had street tacos at a little Mexican place.
- On my way back, I stopped at my AN’s to buy a little chainsaw from him (hence the bank). I need to pick up some chain oil.
Gary got here at 2:45. And will be back at 10 tomorrow. The tenants did show up while I was gone. During our walk through I kept saying, with slight variations, “The house needs to be returned to me in the same condition as when I handed it to you.” Over and over and over. The elder tenant said Nothing. This was due to Gary’s presence, Bless him.
The house was a little better than it was this morning, but in no way was it in any shape where I could give them an AOK.
Tomorrow we will go through the ‘Condition checklist” It needs to be signed off on by all of us. I will go over the cleanliness of the house after the, as of 11:59:59 tonight, ex-tenants leave.
I am SO done with this BS. I hope the locksmith shows up when we’re doing the second (well, third) walk through. I’m feeling that vindictive. 😠 “Here’s a symbol of how trustworthy you are!”
The tenants left for the day sometime after 6PM. That is when I drove, rather than walked, to my neighbor to the east for dinner. Having dinner with a sane person was soothing, and I found a small measure of my own sanity in the soup… 😏
