November 2023 Island Trip – Day 9
I made sure not to do the midnight owl thing last night, and woke up three minutes before my alarm. This gave me a 3-hour head start on the final walk-through with my, now, ex-tenants.
By the time the younger tenant arrived, I was done with the condition checklist, and had started on the cleaning schedule checklist. He was very interested in what my findings were… What I’d marked on my copy of the cleaning schedule.. I told him that there and been time available for them to clean, and it was over. He understood that, and still wanted to know what I was making notes of. I offered a number of things, including mold on the shower grout, which he assured me he had scrub. BS. The grout is fragile. If he had scrubbed, the grout and its mold would have vanished. It is evident that they haven’t cleaned any of the grout in the shower in the last year. Mold, Mildew… Expand this example to the entire house, in some subtle ways, and this will be the first time I haven’t been able to return 100% of a security deposit to a tenant.
I’ll catch up on the house ridiculousness tomorrow. Time for bed.
