November 2023 Island Trip – Day 11

I got all the usual things, and the list of additional things done in time to miss the 11:00AM boat by 4 minutes 😂. It was not my plan to catch the 11AM boat, so to get so close and then barely miss it was kinda funny. I took a long stroll around town, popped into the teeny Mexican cafe for street tacos, ran into one of my parent’s friends, and shot the shit for 20-minutes. He is also a friend of Tim’s. We expressed mutual concern for Tim’s situation in CA on property where a road has washed out, meaning no propane truck can get in… Tim is having a hard time keeping warm in his uninsulated antique house 😓.

I returned to the car (#1 in the ferry line 🤣!) after a stop at the wine shop, where I bought some hysterical dish towels, and read. The ferry was right on time, and I spent the crossing napping. When the deck hand signaled me to get off the boat, the car wouldn’t start! He gave the battery a jump, and the car consented to start. The battery is 5.5 years old. I didn’t have any accessories running on the crossing… I have a feeling cold weather and an old battery may equal needing a new battery. I’ll deal with that next week.

Tomorrow we’re taking a drive to the mountains to look at a little trailer that would be a perfect Island office for my DH.
