MIL’s Birthday!

Late this morning we picked up my step-daughter, fetched my MIL, and had a delightful lunch at a historic pub on the island my MIL lives on. Fortunately, her island is accessible by a bridge 😏. MIL opened and enjoyed her gifts, which included an abundance of chocolate (a fav), some really nice coffee, and other tasty consumables.

She was is in the best form we see her in these days. Good humor, happy to see us, and smiling. She was also expressing her usual repetitiveness. My step-daughter was in her usual elder groove. The girl can keep her grandma (and my mom when she was alive) engaged in ways that we certainly can’t. Just the right questions to help grandma reminisce, keep grandma included in the conversation, and keep track of the conversation. She is a ‘whisperer.’

We’ll see my MIL next on Christmas with the plan that she’s going to spend the night. My DH will pick her up, and take her home after a Boxing Day brunch.
