New Year’s 2024 Island Trip – Day 3

Well, we did stay up to see in the New Year, promptly went to bed, and, you guessed it, slept in again 😂. Leftover prawns and Parmesan omelets fueled us up for another day of getting things done. Our AN and his treasure of a wife stopped over for a visit before we launched into lists.

We:

  • Finished moving the compost, cleaned the tarp it was sitting on, and the cart I hauled it around in. The dead patch of grass will come back by summer. I also managed to clean up rat evidence in the pump room left from the last trip… 🤢
  • Finished pruning back the perennials.
  • Emptied the open shed, and oh my, did it give up some old treasure (if you want to call it that). The 8×4’ press board sheet that my dad custom fit for the back of the Honda attack vehicle. A dozen brick. Endless rotten wood, insulation, and gas can nozzle bits. A fishing net, more metal tubing that we can’t fathom what its use was, nice garbage cans left by the first tenant, tarps, some salvageable lumber, and more. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
  • Adjusted the exterior north house entrance door light so it hangs straight.
  • Moved a vise from the drier shed to the upper barn.
  • Finally removed the No Trespassing signs.
  • And, last night my DH installed a wonderful LED light over Stella’s stove. It’s rechargeable, turns on off, and dims all with the wave of a hand. I am smitten, and I think I’ll keep my DH too 😍!
I can see when I cook!! Heaven!
