Jan/Feb 2024 Island Trip – Day 1
A few thing were causing me anxiety as I arrived on the Island early this afternoon.
One was the level of the propane tanks after asking that the fireplace be set to turn on at 55º. The tanks at the house are almost full, meaning I will likely not be able to swap propane providers this trip. I’ll check the level of the tank at the drier shed tomorrow (it’s with the same provider, but on a separate account) and see if changing this tank out is an option, if it’s volume is low enough.
Another angst was worrying about Stella’s plumbing. It’s PEX, so less likely to burst or cause problems, and it’s rarely 10 degrees here. Everything seems to be ok.
The last was the pipe fix on the house. There was no water turned on at the house when I got down there to start working. I texted my AN asking if it was OK if I turned the water on at the well. He didn’t get back to me for a couple of hours. All is OK. He (air) pressure tested the fix for three days, and then forgot the turn the water back on. I’ll happily take care of that in the morning. He and I will also button up the house siding tomorrow.
I don’t need to repair sheetrock in the house! I moved the second trail camera over to the orchard (away from the house), extracted the rose from inside the drier shed, primed areas in the bathroom that I prepped earlier this month, and removed tools I didn’t need in the house any longer.
A goal this trip is to turn my lights off by 11, start work no earlier than 9, and stop working no later than 4. Also, to do something creative every day.
