Jan/Feb 2024 Island Trip – Day 4
Errand were somewhat entertaining. The year-round charity/garage sale was closed today, and it is tomorrow, so I dumped my aluminum cans off there, and then headed to the lumber yard. This turned out to be a good decision because I found 10’ lengths of flexible pipe to bury in my ditch. Makes things much easier.
I thought I’d tied the pipe to the Subaru adequately. I was incorrect. My first stop was to add bungee cords to the unruly things. The second stop was to open the sunroof, which surely would summon rain, and create a handle out of an additional bungee cord that I could hold onto. The pipe, on top of ‘singing’ (I expected this), each one in a different tone, wanted to slide to the left every time I drove over 32 MPH 🙄.
The compost/gravel/gorgeous stone yard was next for some gravel to fill in around the steps leading to the east entrance of the house. Then a s-l-o-w drive home during which I pulled over a lot to let others by. My right arm/shoulder is likely going to be unhappy with me tomorrow.
After returning and refueling (myself), I:
- Cut a length of coaxial cable in the house and covered up the opening with a blank electrical cover. There are more and more of these blank covers in the house as technology advances…
- Replaced the cover to one of the exterior electrical junction boxes on the house. My GC thinks the screws (I replaced today) didn’t survive his wife’s laundry routine 😂!
- Spread the gravel.
- Installed the drain pipe purchased at the lumber yard. I’m going to keep digging the trench tomorrow, however… So it meets up with the creek outflow. I’m very happy how much water has drained from under the dryer shed.
My neighbor to the east stopped over around 4 for a visit. She has her grandkids this evening. Hopefully we can have dinner tomorrow.
