Jan/Feb 2024 Island Trip – Day 10

Again, lots accomplished:

  • My DH has transformed the old cat door into what were now calling a Digital Access Port (DAP), or Satellite Access Port (SAP). Next up is for me to prime and paint it, inside and out. The tenants can adopt either acronym. Either way, StarLink’s router cable will pass through this now insulated former feline access. 🐈‍⬛
  • I took the first run to town to purchase bug bombs. The dryer shed Always has dead flies on the little work bench. This never seemed to bother any of the tenants, but it really bothers me. Three hours after setting off the bomb there were thousands of dead flies on the floor 😳. Even on the exterior porch. I cleaned up and expect to find more tomorrow. WTF?
  • The other thing I purchased was a 150 watt equivalent LED light bulb for a repurposed light in the upper barn. My DH rigged it so it drops right over his work bench in the upper barn.
  • The second trip to town came about when my DH discovered that the one caulking gun we have refused to work under the pressure of caulk. I teasingly said. “It’s not a project without at least two town trips.” At one point there were half a dozen caulking guns here. I kept the cleanest one…
  • The tenants dropped in with a bunch of furniture they procured. It’s nice to see the house starting to look lived in again.
  • I got the burn pile going in earnest at the end of the day. There’s something about managing a large fire that’s (mostly) calming. It’s all you can do. No multitasking, single focus. In this county one is suppose to be with the fire until it’s ‘campfire’ size. This is a highly subjective measurement. How many people are at your campfire? It was down to six-ish feet across when we left it to its own devices and went in to make dinner.
