March 2024 II Island Trip – Day 6 Part 2
We got the pad for LJG and the ‘road’ from the access road to Stella down to the barns re-established today. This allows one to back down from Stella, do a two-point turn on the access road, and then head down to the driveway nose first. I am thankful for this, as backing a vehicle all the way from Stella to the driveway, with a dirt moving machine, and a pile of gravel in the way is not my favorite! We used the excess gravel to fill in areas on the drive that were low. The tenant grabbed a rake and helped out! He directed where our AN should place the extra gravel… Their car’s nose has been bottoming out on the burm of the drive, so he was the logical supervisor!
I got to run a compactor today for the first time! I ran it over LJG’s pad and the reconstructed road between the barns and Stella’s access road. It’s such a useful piece of machinery. I kinda want one, but that’s a ridiculous aspiration. My AN has one here on the Island, and I can rent one on the mainland if needed. But I definitely have compactor envy! It bosses gravel in a way that I never knew was possible. Yes, I do get jazzed about this sort of stuff!
This morning, as I saw my DH off on the ferry, I topped off the car with gas (always financially exciting on the Island), laid in a solid amount of groceries, including really easy things to cook should I come down with the crud, and exchanged a custom printed shirt I had made for my DH. The shop’s size large is oversized. Without question or receipt, they reprinted the shirt for me 💕.
I do a home test for Covid tomorrow. It’ll be 24-hours later than our neighbor did her first test in terms of exposure. Zero symptoms so far. I mean other than sone sinus shenanigans that have been going one for longer than this potential problem has been. 😏
