Trailer Insurance & Other Updates

New insurance coverage for the trailers was placed early this week. We went with the ‘replacement’ cost coverage for all three. If there were a loss, it means we’d probably have to demonstrate to the insurance company what we’ve stated as our values for the three, But documented purchase price, plus improvements is a good starting place. We can’t predict what will happen to the market for these lovelies, and I feel much better about better coverage for them.

The weather is starting to feel more spring-like in our neck of the woods. This sends me running out into the garden. Yesterday and today I worked on ivy chore, and cleaning up winter’s mess. My DH fixed my favorite rake, which I deployed against the ankle breakers (fir cones) on the SW side on the house. I am sore after gardening and spending time helping under the house too… The ceiling of the ‘Hobbit Hole,’ the area under our living room, is coming along!

A lot of our focus is on my DH’s mama. We’ve collectively been vetting assisted living communities, with me taking a lead as my DH and nurse kiddo both work full-time. After a number of falls, that we know about, unpaid bills, declining memory, and the blessing & support of mama’s doctor, we’re going to make this happen. It’s hard for all the reasons you can imagine, particularly having been through/participated in this twice before. At the doctor’s on Wednesday, mama acquiesced that, yes it was time, and then threw in, “After I sell the house.” We’re not gonna sell the house…

On Monday we’ll spend our third day helping mama go through things. She is very compliant and wants to help. I am thankful 💕. My DH and mama will spend some time doing some banking and grocery shopping. I will search for the docs her CPA needs to get her tax return done. Yes, an extension has been filed. Also, check the fridge for any fresh hazmat items and expired items that matter (not worried about the capers), scour and remove the charity mail (again), perhaps reduce the bandaid load from 10,976 to 205, remove the empty TP rolls from her vanity… So much of this is just like my mom. Different, and the same. I know how to administrate this, am good at it, can do the physical/recon work, and it’s really hard (understatement) to see another brilliant woman succumb to this illness 😢.
