April 2024 Island Trip – Day 1
We spared ourselves an early departure and reserved a spot on the noon boat. We left with ample time, and ran into our region’s Saturday rush hour (tho not usually a thing heading north), and made it through the ferry terminal ‘gate’ with a minute to spare before losing our reservation! Not my favorite excitement, but it worked out! 😏
We managed the cat appropriately enough this morning so that he is now hiding behind Stella’s couch 😢🐈⬛. He came out for dinner, and played with his long pink ribbon from behind the couch. Tomorrow we’re going to remove the long and difficult drawer from under the couch. This has been a recent plan. The drawer is a pain in the butt to open and close. We want to replace it with baskets. Right now the cat is behind the drawer. If the drawer isn’t there, he can still hide back there, but it will be easier for him to get out. And yes, if he doesn’t acclimatize to being here after a week, we won’t bring him again. It just seems being with us for large part of a day here is kinder than a pet sitter once a day who is in and out in 7 minutes. We need to think on this.
My DH enjoyed spending time setting up his office in LJG. I mowed for most of 2-hours until the rain got going. The tenants now have broad paths to and from the out-buildings, the front of the house is looking good, and a fair amount of general aesthetic trimming is done. I mowed enough around Stella, and into her meadow so we could get StarLink deployed. Lots more grass slaying to come.
