Four Day Recap
Wednesday:
- DH took MIL for an MRI.
- I went to MIL’s while they were out to continue cleaning up the confusion, redundant, expired bandaids, and the like.
- They returned before I could leave because text messaging failed 😡. MIL took my being there in stride.
- Early evening MIL calls us to say she’s fallen again and is in the ER.
- DH goes to pick her up after talking to someone that said she was a) being discharged and b) was ok to be on her own. What we realized is what the hospital thinks we’re asking is, “Is she OK to be out of the hospital?” Those were not the words we used. We asked specifically if she was ok to be on her own. When my DH arrived to pick her up, it was obvious she was not OK to be on her own. He brought her back to our place. After a bad night for all of us,
Thursday:
- She was much better in the morning, but her head wound had bled a lot in the night. One pillow down.
- DH got her home mid-afternoon.
Friday:
- Friday DH took her to the doctor, who placed orders for home health to not only help her with wound care, but to assess, specifically, if she’s safe to be at home in general. Essentially, we are collecting a body of evidence by others who say she must move into senior living. Yes, my DH is going to insist, give her no choice when we pull that trigger, and it helps to be able to say, Doctor and Home Health say ‘you must.’
Saturday:
- Today we toured the two communities that I was able to drill down to. We’ve chosen. Some strategizing comes next, but she’ll be moved very, very soon.
