May/June 2024 Island Trip – Day 4

Two wee milestones for me this evening… I’m cooking, just for me, this evening for the first time since arriving, and I didn’t re-bandage my thumb after taking my shower late this afternoon. My first night here I made myself shrimp salad. No cooking involved! And somehow, it feels good to let my thumb have some air. I’ll wrap it up before I go to bed.

I continued to slay grass for hours today with three different devices, in the sun. I made the mistake of not keeping up with fluids, and by the time I called it quits for the day, I was exhausted. Thank goodness for Gatorade! The place is looking great, but not done yet. And, rain is forecast tomorrow with an ‘atmospheric river’ expected Sunday night and into Monday. Looks like I’ll finish grass taming next week. Meanwhile,

There’s plenty to do including the Island’s Artist Open Studio tour this weekend!

Our AN stopped by and sprayed the apples with BT. He’s enamored with my backpack sprayer and took it away again to spray his willow. We also anchored down the siding I need for the south side of the drier shed. When he asked what color I’d paint it, I replied, “Whatever ‘Whoops’ color the paint store has.” He gave me a look and said the ‘barn red was pretty traditional…’ So that’s what the color will be! 🙃
