Considering Hospice

My neighbor to the east called me today. Word is getting out that our AN is sick. She heard from a mutual friend of theirs, who asked if they could share the news with her. She called me kind of assuming I knew.

At this point our AN is considering hospice. This does not say anything too encouraging about his diagnosis. My neighbor to the east works for the local community resource center, and is both a fantastic contact for our AN and his wife, and has all the right skills, on top of being a friend, to lend personal support.

I keep thinking about something someone said recently: “We always assume we have time.” I think this is the thing that I grieve the most about for our friend and neighbor.
