July 2024 Island Trip – Day 1
Taking a noon boat to the Island meant a slightly more relaxed morning for us. This worked well as the cat accompanied us again this trip. He expressed his displeasure for most of the ride, but snoozed on the crossing. Poor boy got locked into Stella’s shower while we unloaded. We’ve since been forgiven. Upon his released from shower jail, he was perfectly mellow in the space. On his first trip here he was spooked and initially tried to hide. Even with a couple of sessions under the covers of our bed mid-afternoon, he’s come a long way.

I took a puzzle, jam, and chutney to our neighbor to the east, and paused to say “Hi” to the tenants. They had a small laundry list of things they’d been saving for me. I appreciated, given what mainland life has been like, that they’d saved up their concerns/things they needed help with, which I’ll address tomorrow, until my arrival.
I helped my DH put kitchen items away in LJG while he got set up for work tomorrow, and then mowed Stella’s meadow, her drive, around Stella, and the south side of the barns and big garden.
We had a big salad for dinner. Perfect on a hot evening. It’s been a long and good day.
