July 2024 Island Trip – Day 4

Today was a good balance between accomplishing tasks and enjoying friends. Oooo, and getting a load of laundry done! Don’t laugh… 😂 It is still a marvel and delight to be able to wash a load of clothes while I’m here! I’ll hang them on the line tomorrow.

I spent about 40-minutes line trimming, and about 40-minutes recovering from line trimming… The results are great, including slaying a bunch of thistles. The line trimmer is a beast. You can attach a blade to it… I have the blade and intend to use it on hawthorns. The line trimmer also feels like a catchup gardening tool… Something that I have to use because I’m not here enough to maintain the property/garden the way I’d like to be able to, outside of the landscaper, who takes care of prescribed areas.

I continued painting in the lower barn. I’ve figured out that I hate my 12’ ladder. It’s heavy, awful, and doesn’t stand square on the ground… But I need it in order to paint the taller interfaces between the ceiling and walls. This has led me to reconsider my plan for painting the space… I won’t inflict you, Dear Reader, with the logistics, other than there are a few very heavy tables and cabinets that will need to be moved, repeatedly, as this ladder has to be moved about… It’ll get done 😏. I may also buy a new 12’ ladder… 😁

We had an very enjoyable time with our company this late-afternoon. Bonus was our neighbor from the east stopped by. We all know each other making conversation fluid.

We essentially had guacamole, pico de gallo, and blue corn chips for dinner, 🥑 that we’d set out for nibbles for our guests.

The cat, again, consented, with encouragement, to join the party for a bit. The minute a guest headed into Stella, to use the bathroom, the cat flew inside 🐈‍⬛. S’ok! We’re delighted he was comfortable, on a leash, to spend a little time outside.
