July 2024 Island Trip – Day 12
Having limited carrying ability, and no coolers, I divided up the remaining food between the lower barn’s fridge/freezer, the compost, and my neighbor to the east. She was stoked! And I walked over to her place early enough that we had a cup of tea before she had to get ready for work.
I had a leisurely stroll through closing up, topped off my friend’s gas tank, made sure that the paint would be ready for our GC (today), found a couple of street tacos for lunch, popped into the museum to enjoy the current exhibit, which made me pause to consider what sort of opportunites I missed by not being more interested in my father’s work, and then headed to the airport.
The flight was very enjoyable. It took me back to my flying days. This was a 1978 Cessna 206 that’s been upgraded with all the current tech. The pilot had all his maps on a tablet, rather than the Jepson maps we used to use. His app also gave him other air traffic in the vicinity. It was nice to be able enjoy the views, and geek out watching the avionics.
