Sign Posting etc…
Did not go well… It was kinda like a red herring. City Hall told me to go the Community Center, who said they can only post city fliers, but try the park across the street. The park is huge, and I don’t currently have the mobility to hike the park looking for a bulletin board. At the end of the day I got five signs posted: The two regular groceries, the place I had lunch, one StarBucks (will hit a few more of them up on Thursday, there are at least 104 on this small island… 😂), and a drug store let me post a flier on an exterior window. The hardware store and swanky grocery were hard ‘No’s.’ The thrift store was a ‘no’ as well, which surprised me, tho it’d be direct competition. They did let me know they’d take anything remaining from the sale except furniture. Their sales benefit the community, so that’s a ‘for sure.’
Lists (I hate fucking lists) have gone from subject based to daily based. It’s progress… It looks like I don’t have to leave the house tomorrow. I am thankful, and if time allows, I’ll make applesauce.
This evening we working on the CD collection, which now includes both of our parents’ collections. We’ve probably culled, so far, 50+ in duplicates and things we know we’ll never listen to. The funny thing about this is we haven’t listened to a CD, other than in my two older vehicles, for years. And yet we’re probably going to keep at least a couple 100 of 400ish disks. For now, ‘It’s a process,’ is my cop out. The disks we’re not keeping will go to the sale. .50 cents each, three for a buck! Remember when we paid $15-$25 for CDs?? The funny/sad thing is to find CD and CD collections of our folks’ that were obvious ‘gifts’ for donating to public TV/radio that they never opened and enjoyed. 😓 I’m supportive that they donated to a cause the was important to them, but to never enjoy the ‘gift’ of music is a symptom of their collective decline.
I accomplished two additional things today… One was to take the seriously antique paint cans, that have been sitting outside on the master bedroom deck for… 10+ years, to the paint vendor the cans originated from, and get the colors of the exterior of the house matched. That was a fucking win! And buy a can of primer. My MIL assures us the house was just painted. Not. When I pressure washed algae off the siding over the carport, the paint peeled off with it… I’m sure Visa is wondering why I’m spending So much money on paint these last few months…
The other thing was to pause at the bank and pick up ‘change’ for the sale. I stressed about this when I held the estate sale on the Island. I extracted what I thought was enough ‘change’ out of the bank, and suddenly was swimming in small bills. I assume the same thing will happen again. Cash or Zelle, Baby. That’s our currency.
On tomorrow’s (ugh) list are things like, pick tomatoes, feed my chickens, hopefully make soup… as well as prep for the weekend. The domestic tasks will be grounding. I look forward to Monday! 😁
