October 2024 Island Trip – Day 2
We got the lease signed for the next year. I ran over to Tim’s to check his mail and front door for any deliveries. He’s looking for insurance docs that are not showing up at his southern abode. Nothing but political junk, which I have been asked to recycle. The lumber company had some promising ‘barn-red’ paint chips for me to compare to the drier shed, and the market had the ginger chocolate that I can’t find on the mainland. I bought six bars of it 😏.
My DH and sassy cat weren’t too far behind my return to the property. We are both pleased with a healthy sprinkling of relief that the cat gets to Stella and kind of owns the place. Yeah, he’s a little pissed about the car ride, and grumbles, but he doesn’t cower and spend the next 4 hours under our covers. Old cats can learn new tricks!
When we realized the rain wasn’t going to let up, my DH finished unloading his car into the barn, and I took a push broom to the glop on Stella’s ‘gutter,’ to get water to stop flowing across a window. This task was able to be done from ground level.
We saw the local production of Our Town this evening. It was very well done and we know two people in the play, one of them being our tenant, and the other Tim’s best buddy.
Tomorrow we have a date to visit our AN.
