October 2024 Island Trip – Day 4
I got a mess of little chores done today. An important, but easy one was to get the irrigation array off the house, and place the faucet protector over the spigot. The spigot is a ‘no freeze’ unit, but why tempt misery?? The rest isn’t really worth mentioning… Well, maybe discovering that one of the paint chips I picked up at the lumber company for the new siding for the dryer shed is going to work. This pleases my control-freak heart to no end!! I’ll get paint tomorrow or Wednesday 😁.
The sun came out for a few hours today, after 72-hours of rain. Stella was suddenly 74º, the condensation on the windows that the dehumidifier can’t keep up with, vanished. It was NICE. The rain started up 20-minutes ago. It wasn’t supposed to start until 9PM. I grumpily said, “The dang system is being an overachiever…”
The cat slept for 6-hours today 🐈⬛. As I mentioned previously, we’re pretty sure he does this daily, but outside… When he’s in the same small space as we are, it’s noticeable. He spent twilight looking out Stella’s window’s with wide suspicious eyes. He saw a deer across the meadow when it was still light, and he’s been ‘seeing’ them ever since! We finally closed the blinds and curtains as a kindness 😏.
Tomorrow is shaping up to be a slightly more interesting day, and yet still pretty tame. The best part of tomorrow is that, unless engaging in ‘high-risk activities’ I don’t need to wear the ankle brace every waking moment! I’m looking forward to feeling my Merrills snugged up around my ankle for the first time in over 10-weeks. And yes, more than one person has raised their eyebrow and asked, “When are you not engaged in high-risk activities?” 😂
