October 2024 Island Trip – Day 5
I took some of my father-in-law’s photographic gear to the fellow who took my dad’s enlargers off my hands a few years ago. He’ll take them to the local artists’ outfit on the Island. I got to see what is essentially his camera museum. It was very impressive with well over a hundred cameras. One of the best parts was discovering mini cameras complete with interchangeable lenses that are fully functional and run on 16mm film. Hanging out with this person is like being immersed in the history of his subject matter. He is fluent in camera! I have a soft spot for the subject and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Then I got to see his wife’s weaving studio!!
From there I ran to town to get paint for the siding for the dryer shed, a larger mat for just inside Stella’s door, and a few groceries. I also took a little time to find my DH a salt and pepper set for Lady Jane Gray.
Once back, I started priming the siding. They tinted it for me. Given the final color is ‘barn red,’ the primer ended up being quite pink…

I did my 1 & 7/8ths method of painting large sheets of material. One on the table, and almost all of one that’s leaning up against the wall. Tomorrow my DH and I will get another unpainted one on the table, and expose the the other unpainted one on the wall. They’ll all be done in three sessions.
I came in to shower only to discover, after getting into the shower, that one of us (probably not me 😏) had inadvertently turned off the water heater! It was the least fun shower I’ve had in a long while…
