October 2024 Island Trip – Day 7
After staying up until 3AM, today was not nearly as productive as it might have been 😏. I woke up at 9, read a fav scathing political blog post, and snuggled back down. My nap coach made sure to keep things quiet and warm for me 🐈⬛.
Once with it, and fed, I did manage to attend to a few things…
- The siding for the south wall of the dryer shed is all primed, and all the paint (ALL THE PAINT!) is labeled and put away in the pump room where it won’t freeze.
- A relaxed meeting with the tenants completed the house ‘condition checklist.’ This was something that should have been done when they arrived, but didn’t happen. My bad. They agreed with everything as I described it, except for the toilet seat!! I’ve ordered a new one. A piece of the hinge doesn’t want to stay put, making the seat wonky.
- During this meeting we talked about the dryer propane tank that still has a fair amount of gas in it. We needed to do laundry, and I asked if we could pay them per load to use the dryer. This would compensate for the agreement about propane levels in the lease, and help lessen the load of the remaining tank that needs to be swapped out (of the swampy area) due to the new provider. It’s complicated. They both looked at me and said, “No, you cannot pay us to use the dryer!” Then he said with a grin, “Unless it becomes a regular thing, and then we’ll talk.” So, I did laundry (two loads in our wee machine) and set it all to dry in the capacious dryer.
- I closed down the irrigation in what I’d like to call the ‘culinary garden.‘
- We have (GF) breaded boneless/skinless chicken thighs, wee potatoes, and cauliflower shaping up for dinner. We both got a shower in (sounds unremarkable, but trailer life requires some management to make this happen!), and I think we’ll get to sleep well before midnight. 😂
