MIL’s House Project – Update
We’re getting right down to the end of the task list. I was at the house yesterday for the dishwasher replacement. The incumbent unit piddled on the floor the last time I ran it. There is no putting repair money into a 25-year old dishwasher. Not ever. A fellow came by and picked up the captain’s bed, leaving us with darn near nothing to find homes for, furniture-wise.
I spent time removing screws from in between the acoustic tiles in my late FIL’s study’s ceiling, and then removing the tiles that came down easily. And also dodging rat shit that fell from the topside of the tiles. I was seriously grossed out. Why was I doing this, you ask?? I had to be there for the dishwasher install, and they hadn’t shown up yet. The more I do, the less my MIL pays for the ceiling remediation… Yes, I am done with that project, and our friend/contractor has been warmed about the antique rat poop situation… 🤮 🐀
I blew the back deck, carport and driveway of fall’s generosity. Then replaced the cover on a bathroom fan and gave it the paper test, which it passed. Basically, if an exhaust fan will hold a sheet of paper with its suction, it’s both operating properly, and not blocked. The unit was so dusty, that I thought we were going to have to go into the attic looking for a break in the exhaust pipe. I think it just hadn’t been looked at in a very long time. I gathered a few things to bring home (32-gallon trash bags), and dug a fall perennial that popped its head out of the gravel a couple of weeks ago. I was on my way home before 2PM, and hit the shower first thing when I got here.
