New Year’s on the Island
We’re gearing up for a short trip to the Island for New Year’s. It’s will have been more than 8-weeks since our last trip by the time we arrive. This is a tad unusual. There are lots of variables including the holidays, working on my MIL’s house, appointments, and needing a little down time that have kept us home. Mild weather has helped make all this possible…
When we left in late October I left he heaters in the pump room on at the best setting I could. The thermostat is an analog dial unit. As described prior, I turn it until the heaters come on, back it off until the thermostat turns them off, and hope for the best! This was done when the temps were in the 40’s, which they’ve remained in, thank Gawd 😂. Can you tell temperature is a huge anxiety thang for me??? I will be fitting a piece of foam insulation in the pump room window frame this trip…
We’ll be up for five nights and have two evening social engagements to plan. One with Tim and one with our neighbor to the east, who we haven’t seen since late summer. I’m looking forward to seeing them both, dearly.
The imperative Island tasks are few but meaningful. I’m cutting WAY back on importing optional crafty choices. My checklists show me that we have a nicely stocked freezer and larder. Prelaunch shopping tomorrow will be easy. The cat is already suspicious that something is afoot 🐈⬛.
