New Year’s ‘24/‘25 Day – 1

We are back from dinner with Tim. He’s in good form for someone whose mobility is not getting better. My DH snuck in doing the dishes against mild protest, and wielded a ladder to replace a battery in a smoke detector that was just starting to complain. Conversation was varied, interesting and funny.

The property is soggy to the point that we had to pop the truck into 4WD low to get up to the trailer, and again to get into Tim’s. There were drifts of hail from a 3AM tempest this morning. We left the truck down at the barns this evening rather than struggle up here in the dark 😏.

After grumbling the majority of trip here, the cat walked into Stella like he owned the place and has been pretty content ever since.

We brought up a new dishwasher, which will guarantee the incumbent one will last for another couple of years… Also on board was a narrow tall, heavy-duty, plastic cabinet with a roll up door. There are lots of shelves that slide forward for easy access. This came out of an Eastern university that my FIL worked at decades ago. It will be amazing for storing hand tools.

While there are all the things to attend to, in part because tasks don’t involve others, I’m feeling pretty relaxed. It’ll get done.

He is looking miffed because I cajoled him into looking at the camera when he was otherwise sleeping on my DH’s lap.
