New Year’s ‘24/‘25 Day – 2

We met with a wonderful artist today that my dad did photography work for. I was able to dip back into dad’s archives recently. There was a file whose name I was able to run to ground. A painter. I contacted them through there website and they said they’d be delighted to have the materials returned to them. The materials were large format negatives, CDROMs, notes etc. We spent most of an hour chatting. He asked if we were familiar with the Island art museum. We’re members, and it’s on our list to visit while were here. He and his wife both have paintings in the currant exhibit. He remembered both of my parents fondly. While I Love returning these treasures to dad’s clients, I think I’m the winner because I get to meet these folks and, somehow, reconnect with my dad through their experiences of him 💜.

We made a run to town to find NYE dinner (a market steak!), stop at the book store (where we didn’t buy anything 😳), pick up an invoice for the riding mower fix, and get a can of foam insulation for the pump room window…

I dug into the surround of the window in the pump room. It’s a shit show. The header is 100% rotted. Fortunately it’s a pole building, and so a rotten header over a 4’ wide window will not bring the place down… At this juncture we need to do a temp waterproof fix. It would be a lot of boring construction speak to fully explain where we are with this conundrum… I removed as much rot as I could reach, cleaned up the area, and then, with my DH’s help, placed a heavy duty piece of plastic over the window to conserve heat… The window now sports openings to the exterior on all four sides… Sigh. After we got the plastic hung, the temp in the room came up quickly. Thursday we’ll take next steps…

We’re cooking up a nice NYE dinner, which I need to participate in now! Happy New Year’s to all!
