March 2025 Island Trip – Days 4 & 5

Day 4:

After doing something unfortunate to my neck yesterday evening and spending a lot of the night in pain, I did very little today. Interestingly, Advil seemed to clear up what I think we’re muscle spasms. I took it easy and mainly accomplished keeping my neck calm.

I did spend time contacting All the People that we need/want to get a hold of. Hopefully I’ll start lining up my ducks soon.

Day 5:

I woke to a very mild case of neck grumpiness, took more Advil, and eased into the day. I did manage to forward a number of things…

  • The siding for the drier shed is all primed. This could only happen by buying more ‘red primer,’ which is actually pink.
  • I met the person who bought our AN’s property. He was over on our side re-setting his ag water pump, which we supply power for. He handed $100 for electricity! So far so good 😂.
  • I also shampooed the couch in Stella this morning. The one the cat barfed all over on our last trip. The one that did not get clean by way of the rental cleaner… We brought our SpotBot up and it did a really good job. Silly cat. 🐈‍⬛ For a follow-up Stella got a vacuuming too.
  • I swapped out the kitchen sink aerator, a blinking track light and some bulbs in a small fixture at the house.
  • A stroll around the property revealed just how much alder came down in the two wind storms. It was enjoyable hurling the boughs back into the grove of trees. Part of this walk was to assess where I might be able to mow. A whole lot of the place is still pretty marshy, but there are areas where a head start can be made.
  • The garden slope below Stella got a little attention. It felt good to prune, weed, and cleanup.
  • I took a bottle that had a ‘tonic’ in it back to our neighbor to the east. The tonic was made with ginger, turmeric and other goodies. It was intense and delicious. Always return bottles and jars to their makers. That way they can fill them again, and if you’re lucky, you’ll receive more. My friend shared that she’d had to put her pup down 10-days or so ago. She’s doing OK.
