April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 4
Today was Much more sedate than the last three. I took the cat for a walk. He was actually amenable 😳. Chewing on grass featured big in his agenda. I discouraged this… And then he walked up a slope and addressed a fir tree. I also discouraged this 😏. He climbs a venerable fir at home, straight up to the second story deck. While we’d like to get to a point with him here where we felt it was safe to let him roam a bit, climbing a fir while on a leash is not a good way to start. We went and visited my DH in his office trailer. My DH was in a meeting. As soon as the cat started getting loud, I removed the two of us. Mr. Meow then explored the trailer tires and walked back and forth across the back bumper three time. He explored the lower barn next, and then with encouragement, headed back to Stella. I opened the door and he bolted inside. This was a fun first with him 🐈⬛.
The sewing studio was deployed and I made a few quilt blocks from the 2008 shop-hop. I’ll get s’more done while we’re here. Some communication necessities were taken care of. I also went down to the burn site and found that the alder stump I built the fire on actually did reduce a whole lot! I’m very pleased and will do a smaller second burn this trip.
We cooked a spatchcocked chicken on the BBQ for dinner along with some russets, and plated beautiful salads. It was a good day.
