A Bridge Away
I spent the whole day here, one bridge away from my home state. Our friend is working 12-hour days as the salmon fry are on the move. The maritime museum and it’s retired lighthouse ship were a fine distraction. The museum gets bigger each time I visit, and it’s being added on to! The quilt/yarn shop was small in terms of inventory, but what was there was pleasant. There was some stunning yard there I simply couldn’t afford at $95 a skein… The gal running it was a ray of sunshine. On my stroll after visiting the shop, I took a chance and stopped at a hair salon. They had availability! Mid-afternoon I found a pub that had nachos and iced tea. The nacho plate was something to behold. The bartender giggled at my wide eyes saying she loved it when a solo diner ordered them. When she stopped by to check on me, I said, “Please tell me everyone who orders these makes the mess of an 18-month old toddler!” She assured me this was so 😂.
I met our friend at another pub where we caught up for an hour and a bit. It was great to see him (been a few years), and learn about his work, and how he and his partner are doing. While I was waiting for him, I found lodging for the night on a lagoon of sorts right off the river. It’s been sweet to watch the geese and their goslings swim and graze. Ducks too sans ducklings. And I can see the bridge from the balcony of my room!
