June 2025 Island Trip – Day 2
It poured this morning. Umbrella weather. I sat on the couch enjoying tea and watched/listened to the rain. An Airstream is a great experience in the rain. Glad I mowed what I did yesterday.
I took the tenant a cutting/ironing mat that I no longer need that she can use when she takes her sewing machine to a friend’s house. We chatted for longer than I intended, and escaped saying my DH was inbound…
My DH and the cat arrived in time for lunch. We, sans the cat, attended the retirement party for a friend I’ve known for 45-years. It was wonderful to listen to the folks to stepped up to the mic and shared stories. This friend has been on the Island for five generations, and worked for our power cooperative for 46-years. His impact on the community is profound.
There are Two sets of twin fawns and their mom’s around the property. I saw one set yesterday, and another today. What was so astonishing about today’s sighting is how teeny the fawns are. Maybe 15” at the shoulder! Yesterday’s were bigger and their mother much thinner.
We had an easy dinner of pasta and chicken sent home with us Thursday from our daughter and son-in-law’s, and chard from our Mainland garden.
Time for another game of backgammon and then to bed. 😴
