Small Victories!
We treated ourselves to motorized cellular shades for the upper windows (12-foot ceiling) in our living room at the conclusion of our kitchen remodel. They stay open June through early October, and then are closed. No daily up and down. So imagine my surprise when I went to raise them, via remote, this spring and one blind lifted less than halfway and then stopped! The others were non-responsive. I thought it was a pairing issue. How could all the barely used batteries fail all at the same time?
This was a task that kept getting punted. There was always something more urgent or interesting to do. The windows are getting cleaned, in and out, on Thursday π. This evening my DH brought in the ladder, the tool I am forbidden to use, climbed up, found that these things run on rechargeable lithium batteries (not the 8-AAβs referenced by the manual). Upon further exploration in the troubleshooting section, I did find reference to the lithium batteries. Long, and terribly exciting story, short, we are charging the first batch of batteries, and will finish with the others tomorrow. We will have our addition light, and view of the big trees, And clean windows!! π
I cannot tell you how smug and pleased with ourselves we are about solving this minor domestic mystery. All is explained! No rechargeable battery has juice 2-years after installation, even if only used half a dozen times, at most.
