July 2025 Island Trip – Day 5

By the time I got back to our mainland home, after 5PM, my feet had been wet since 9AM… It started raining on the Island last night, and continued to do so all morning. The shoes I traveled in aren’t waterproof, But did I want to wear my more waterproof shoes breaking camp, and then store wet shoes in Stella? No. 😂

The tenants at my MIL’s house called the gas company today, at my urging, after telling me they smelled gas in the cabinet below the cooktop… “Is this the first time you’ve smelled gas in the cabinet?” ‘No.” What the actual FUCK!!! The gas company was able to use their ‘sniffer’ to narrow down the source to the stovetop’s pressure regulator. I have put in a request, to the company we pay to obtain referrals for this property, for an appliance repair person who can handle the replacement of a pressure regulator, if that’s the fix. It could be the hose, a connection, or…? So, I sent an email to the tenants letting them know I’ve placed the referral request via email. The subject line of the email thread between us and the tenants is “2 Quotes” harkening back to the two electrical quotes they obtained. He wrote me back asking, “Please resend! You got two quotes for the pressure regulator replacement?” I explained that I was keeping this entire conversation under the same email thread for ease of access to, oh you know, the conversation. I don’t know how some people navigate through a day, honestly.
