Update on All the Things 😏

The smoke has fled, and it rained today!! Hard at times. What a summer blessing. The island out our kitchen window has color and definition again.

The property manager got back in the communication loop after I reached out. We are on track. What a relief.

I did reach out to Tim’s landscaper who is two weeks out. Meanwhile Mr. Tenant and I reached an agreement where they would sign an addendum to the lease re this sort of thing, including my compensating them for decapitating the Class A noxious weed (the IRS does like ‘work-trade’ in rental situations…). He did this this afternoon. The tansy would have gone to seed within two weeks.

As for the Island tenants being weird… That’s what they are. They are also financially perfect and I have to think seriously about that.

Trip prep came along nicely today without taking over the day. There’s a fine balance, at least with me… I over think most everything, wanting to manage tasks in a smooth and efficient way. If the way isn’t smooth and efficient, I can get seriously grumpy.

I have punted the electrical estimate for my MIL’s house into my DH court. It’s not my decision to make. I will reach out to the estimator and ask if the three of us can talk about safety concerns if we do nothing. After all my in-laws lived there for more than 3.5 decades with electrical devices that gobbled far more electricity than modern devices do, to no ill effect. It just seems absurd to throw 10 grand, at a minimum, into a house that will likely be replaced by mini-mansions the minute we put it on the market.
