Camp Reunion – Day 5
We slept in today. Late. After an instant oatmeal breakfast we drove north of Camp to to a self-guided walk of a historic village. It’s been more than a decade since we’ve taken this village stroll. There are pieces of property for sale in the village and it makes us fantasize about living here… But no. As beautiful as it is here, and as much as it is our heart’s home since earliest childhood, the remote location at this point in our lives (more so than the Island, even considering the ferry) makes it a non-starter. Best to bring the trailer down every so often and enjoy our get-togethers
Camp thinned out today. By the time we arrived this afternoon 60% of the visiting folks had vacated . On one hand it’s always a good thing say ‘goodbye’ to treasured friends, and at Camp, this can take HOURS. 😏 There’s a weird dichotomy where each person has to bid fair well to every other person, and there can be a shit ton of people! Some of the folks leaving are trying to drive 4-hours to grab a plane… We can’t just pause the rotation of the earth to say ‘Goodbye’ to every individual when exiting the property… We tend to sneak out, in the evenings, mid-song, to avoid the whole production. Yes, this happens each evening too! And when we were kids at the end of each month-long camp session, this was quite the process.
So, we did say our good-bye’s, and arranged to stay on another day 😜!
