My Uncle ~ About to Die, Oh Wait, Not!
I received a text from my aunt this morning saying that my uncle was in the hospital, and things were not looking good. Like a few days were his expected longevity… I texted back the appropriate words, and then messaged my cousin. I heard nothing for a couple of hours. Meanwhile I texted my cousin in Georgia.
My cousin got back to me. His dad was not dying. He was in the hospital after taking a fall because he suddenly was unable to regulate his body temperature. And he’s being combative. They put him on a strong sedative to bring things under control. My aunt, also with dementia onboard, thought he’d had a stroke. She couldn’t remember the doctor telling her that her husband did not have stroke, and called/reached out to all of us.
This, of course, made my cousin coo-coo. Things have calmed down now. I have so much respect and love for my cousin. Both of his parents are impacted by this disease 😢. He’s been taking care of them for years, and managing to carve space out for himself. I’m seriously proud of him 💕.
