August 2025 Island Trip – Day 5

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary! Of course we padded the day with two service appointments, and giving Stella’s 32” TV to a young guy 😏 (It’s been used mainly to hang damp towels over for 5-years ~ I did check that it works!). We did spend time relaxing, and did not harvest, but put a drawer back in my dad’s BIG table in the lower barn. Not as easy as it sounds! And fixed a spot mice could get it, and, and , and…

The TV was oversized for the cabinet it was mounted to, and stuck out enough that we had to, not exactly maneuver around it, but make sure not to bump into it. It also got in the way of opening/closing a curtain, which was a pain. I’ll remove the wall paper behind it, patch the holes where the mounting bolts were and see what art, or shallow shelf might go on the side of the (microwave) cabinet.

The sub-meter is installed and is busy showing us our kilowatt usage! Not a lot! And then the day is cool (woot!) and 98% of our lighting is LED. I have to learn how this device works in terms of getting readings I’ll need from it. The panel is old and can’t support ‘smart technology.’ The electrician, of course, encouraged me to replace the panel, but said it’s perfectly safe, just over subscribed. I’ll chew on it.

And Stella’s A/C unit has a new (flux) capacitor and is capable of cooling again! What a relief. Would have been nice to have the last few nights!

And now we are off to dinner. Tim is joining us. He is perplexed as to why we enjoy his company on our anniversary. We are perplexed why he doesn’t get it! Good company is good company, and it’s always good to spend special occasions with those who are important to you.
