October 2025 Island Trip – Day 3

Today included:

  • Doing a bit of mowing, but not a ton as my fuel was limited… What got done, as always, looks great.
  • Putting my ghetto wall in the pump room back together after it was taken apart to install the sub-meter. It’s going to keep the plumbing happy in cold weather, and I want to redo it.
  • The soaker hose for Stella’s slope is tucked away for the season.
  • The baby filbert produced 21 nuts!!! I also found its drip line in a tangle. It broke at some point and someone, tenant I assume, took the feeder line and knotted it up in order to keep it from gushing water from the 1/4” line for 10 minutes at 4AM each morning 🙄. I am annoyed and have repaired it. How is it that a 72-year old can’t tell me an irrigation line is broken?
  • I also picked apples. Lots of apples. Possibly more than the first harvest, which was more than 150#. This time they are bigger! Seldom do I think about apple picking as a workout, but hours of reaching and going up and down the ladder makes me think otherwise now!
For context of scale, the round buckets are 5-gallon pails.
