October 2025 Island Trip – Days 4 & 5

Day 4 was mainly about firewood. The ‘leaner’ is down, and lots of trees that were off to the edges on the west drive were bucked up and tossed into my truck. I was on toss and stack duty while the guys were on haul and saw duty. It’s not the prettiest wood, but as my mama said, “A free BTU is a good BTU!” And the drive is safer and cleaner.

The Leaner
Country girl’s way to take down a tree… With supervision, of course 🤣.

I crossed small lingering things off my lists, like taking detailed measurements of the interior of Stella’s front end. While her couch is fairly comfortable, it’s really ugly (as mentioned before), and I’d like to replace it with something that’s less imposing and much better looking.

Day 5 was all about getting off the Island. Mouse proofing all the things took time and head space. Loading the apples, securing the firewood, and realizing our security camera wasn’t working took additional time, and suddenly I had 20 minutes to get in line for the boat with a stop to make. I managed to pick up my three pairs of small snip from our blade sharpener, and got to the ferry check-in with zero seconds to spare!

The drive home had its ups (stopping at two fabric stores in search of specific colors for a project), and downs (two accidents that slowed the trip down remarkably). It was a long day.

9 more blocks to go!
