November 2025 Island Trip – Day 2

I slept solidly and woke half an hour before my alarm. I started off the day working on inventory. I have to decide how granular to get with this project. Going drawer by drawer seems the only logical way, but then I’ll end up with a spreadsheet that’s gonna look like my MIL’s household inventory… Hers had everything right down to each dish towel. Homeowners insurance gives you a dollar figure for contents coverage and you add specifics amounts to your policy for unusual things like fine art, instruments etc. The trailers policies have ‘actual loss’ coverage, so the more detailed I get, the better the coverage we’ll have should Godzilla stomp on one of the trailers. But, I gotta stop somewhere… partially boxes of tissue, and the crow feathers I have tucked above the door? For clothing I’ve placed a dollar amount. I’ll do the same with spices, but detail the knives. There’s value there. I sound ridiculous 😏.

The guys came by and took the generator off my hands. The fellow who is adopting it is STOKED! We have 7+ sqft of garage space back! They’ll return tomorrow to service the house water heater, place the jacks under Stella, and continue scoping out what we’re calling the StellaPort. I’m going to see if they’re interested in finishing up the lower barn interior painting for me. It’s probably a three hour job for someone who’s allowed on ladders 😆. One of the guys will also load the truck for me (firewood).

I installed some of my scrappy baseboard in the lower barn today. Even though it’s homemade, and not caulked yet (not up to that this trip), it does make a difference how the space feels. The rest will have to wait as it requires moving heavy things.

Home-grown baseboard on wall behind vacuum.

I visited with an acquaintance who does digital everything for a little bit. We adopted a shop light from him. After getting back I worked on an insulated cover for one of the three fans in the trailer. Photo tomorrow when it’s complete.

Back to my quilt magazine 😴.
