November 2025 Island Trip – Day 5

It was a truly relaxed day. Well mostly šŸ˜‚. I didn’t roll out of bed until close to 10. It was too comfortable reading under the covers with tea in hand. And my first order of business was to take a (drought) shower, which isn’t the most luxurious experience during cold months. So, I kept putting off getting up! And indeed one of my favorite parts about returning to our mainland home is a l-o-n-g shower!

I got the firewood ā€˜road legal.’ This means covering it with something that will make the state patrol happy. They want to see loads tied down. My ginormous bungee net qualifies. I even put a tarp down first in an effort to keep the wood dry. I also cut two pieces of 1ā€ foam insulation board to fit into Stella’s skylight wells. We’ve been using a flexible material that’s both curled over the years, and is now loosing its foil coating. It reminds me of glitter when I find it on the rug or cabinet. When I slid the insulation into the wells, the immediate heat I felt was very gratifying.

I continued to enjoy the book I brought, took a short snooze, sewed up the remaining new curtain ties, but will ā€˜turn’ them at home where I have better tools, then got the sewing gear put away, and made gentle progress toward tomorrow’s departure.

That quilt magazine is calling my name again… G’nite!
