‘25/‘26 New Year’s Island Trip Pre-launch

We got home from a delightful afternoon, at the local (extremely well done) aquarium, celebrating our grandson’s birthday, at 4:30. Once home, I kinda went into a pre-trip-panic looking at all the unchecked boxes. 1.5 hours later, I am happy to report feeling in good shape for an 8:30 departure.

We’re joining up with the birthday Boy, his folks and his Aunt and Uncle for Thai dinner nearby at 7. This is something I want to enjoy in a relaxed head-space. Doable now!!

I have a few distractions that are adding to my ‘easily panicked’ state of mind:

  • I have the first real cold in 6-years. Not Covid, which I’ve tested for twice, three days apart. This equates to not sleeping much for the last 3-nights. I can breathe, it’s the coughing that wakes me up 🙄. I think this is going in the right direction. Just don’t make me laugh. And yes I’ve been wearing a mask.
  • Because of the above, I’m sleeping with a unique pillow set up, which does not please my left (rotator cuff injury) shoulder.
  • I caught up with some Island biz this morning, which gave Mr. Tenant an excuse to try and tell me why the kitchen skylight had dripped… This communication came after my roofer called me… I was able to logic Mr. Tenant down, who tried again! I then told him we were suspending the conversation until I could look at the skylight myself. The roofer and skylight dude say it was condensation. Very, very warm inside. Cold outside. Now Mr. Tenant is trying to tell me there’s a crack in the skylight… and that new paint would probably seal it… This guy has a PhD in things like algae (for real). The illogic… It burns 😱🔥!!!
  • My roofer’s wife is going in for more cancer treatment, and then a stem cell transplant. We love and adore these people. It’s hard when your friends are struggling.
  • Got the insurance rejection letter for the MRI for my shoulder today. I knew it was coming, and my doc has drawn her sword, given me the battle plans and instructions, and told me to stand by… However, this sort of thing brings out the warrior in me. She is a bitch on the best of days. I have never lost a match against an insurance company…

And there were seed catalogs in the mail, the quilt project from my friend for our class as well, and we’re about to go hang out with the best kid for dinner.
