Walkies

It’s an amazing thing to actually walk (in a boot) after a month off. My delusions of ambulatory ease were quickly corrected… First steps were very shaky. I grabbed my mom’s cane from the coat closet on my way out of the bedroom… Subsequent locomotion has been easier. Like, maybe my foot needed to wake up. Since this morning everything feels pretty good. Tired with a little bit of knee outrage, but OK. I spent the Super Bowl with my foot UP! Iced. I got a chicken in the oven this evening 😁. My DH is going to add the potatoes I trimmed shortly to the oven, and be in charge of veggies. I’m saving driving for tomorrow… 😏

There are three goals for tomorrow. 1) Replenishing a few skincare items. Indeed, I attempted to purchase these products online through the department store I usually buy skincare through, but was unable to sign out as a ‘guest.’ The website just stopped responding 🙄. I’m going to run out of one product tomorrow morning 😏. Yeah, first world problems. 2) Visit my daughter, who is working from home tomorrow. She lives in the town where she and her family purchased a gift certificate for me for a quilt shop I love. 3) Quilt shop! Keep in mind I have a handicap parking permit. I don’t have to gimp far…

Driving… Doc said I could drive with a shoe on. I can walk in the boot. My response was that I could drive left-footed in the truck with the boot on… this was met by much concern 🤣. I will be compliant and switch between shoe and boot on my outings tomorrow. It is ideal to drive my car, which has been idle for a month.

I’m thinking about a tattoo (my children are guffawing right now!) to disguise the scar on my foot. Maybe a vine that works its way up my ankle… My middle child (RN with a specialty in wound care…) wisely advised that I wait until the incision is fully healed before making such a choice. I will, of course as there is no choice!
